This week we continue into the second installment of our series on worship. Our focus will be on an important and searching question: What does it look like for believers to live lives marked by worship? Together, we will see that worship is not limited to songs we sing, but is deeply expressed through lives shaped by faithful obedience to God.
We will turn our attention to the well-known and sobering account of Abraham being tested by God through the command to offer his beloved son as a test of ultimate faith and allegiance to God. As many of us are aware, God most likely is not calling us today to make such a sacrifice, this passage reveals a timeless truth: obedience to the voice of the Lord is a defining mark of genuine worship.
As we carefully reflect on this profound narrative, our prayer is that the Holy Spirit would gently illuminate the areas of our lives where we are being invited into deeper obedience. When we respond faithfully, we discover that obedience itself becomes one of the most sincere and meaningful acts of worship we can offer to God.
