Romans 1: 18-25

With this message, we embark on a new sermon series entitled: Idol Factory. The name of our series comes from John Calvin who once said that “man’s nature is a perpetual factory of idols.” The sin of idolatry is not something that gets much attention in the western world as we don’t live in a region that’s saturated with temples, shrines, and statues depicting deities. Yet, the sin of idolatry is still prevalent because the root of idolatry starts in the human heart. In the scriptures, when God calls Ezekiel to confront the elders of Israel, He says to the prophet, “these men have taken their idols into their hearts and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces” (14:3). The graven images are the result of something that was cultivated in the human heart.

Tim Keller once said, “idolatry is anything more important to you than God. Anything that absorbs your heart and imagination more than God. Anything you seek to give you what only God can give you.”

In this message, Pastor Daniel explores with us the theme of Idolatry in the scriptures.
