RESILIENT JOY: THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS

This Spring we are embarking on another expository sermon series on the book of Philippians, a preaching series that will take us through to the end of the summer. The book of Philippians was a letter penned by the Apostle Paul while he was in prison in 62ce. One of the distinguishing features of the letter is the theme of joy. In just four short chapters, Paul used the word “joy” or “rejoice” a total of sixteen times, even though his own personal circumstance could be interpreted as the opposite of joyous.

J.R.R. Tolkien once said “There is a joy beyond the walls of this world…” It is this kind of joy, a mysterious joy that goes well beyond our circumstances, that we will be looking to discover and experience together.
